News » “City and Art” meets at Tophane-i Amire

City and Art Project, conducted by Secretariat General for EU Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Türkiye and financed by EU within the context of Grant Scheme Programme for Promotion of the Civil Society Dialogue Between the EU and Türkiye, is aiming different cities and cultures to come into contact.  This time the project is launching an exhibition at Tophane-i Amire Art and Culture Centre on 15 October 2009 to strengthen the bridge built in art between Europe and Türkiye.

City and Art Project has taken its start with a forum, bringing the academics and the students of art from Europe and Türkiye together in Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University on 6 March 2009.  The project has continued with workshops respectively in İstanbul, Mersin, Malmö, London and Vienna.  In workshops, mostly art in public spaces came into prominence as work and among all works came out, the best ones are to be displayed in Tophane-i Amire Art and Culture Centre from 15 October to 15 November 2009.  The exhibition, being the meeting point of cities and art, will be quite supportive to the context of İstanbul 2010 European Culture Capital.
