The selection of ‘Chromosome XX’ films in Istanbul Modern

“Chromosome XX”, the selection of films by women, organised by Filmmor will be screened between 19-29 March in İstanbul Modern Museum.

İstanbul Modern informed that in the events, the women’s world would be under microscope from 6 different views; from standing up for the rights owned to migration, pleasure and hysteria and even to ill-motherhood.

In the event schedule; “The Stranger In Me”, questioning the maternity as instinct, by Emily Atef, Alexis Krasilovski’s documentary “Women Behind the Camera” in which she portrays the works and lives of 50 cinematographers from all over the world for 7 years, Kim Longinotto’s documentary “Sisters in Law” in which the acts of 5 women in South Africa for the harassed, bullied and forgotten children is told and “Passion & Power, the Technology of Orgasm” by Emiko Omori and Wendy Slick will be screened.

Besides, Andrea Staka’s film “Fraulein” about the lives of 3 women who come to Sweden from different parts of a country that does not exist anymore with their strong passions and dreams in despite of their sufferings and fears and Maria Victoria Menis’ film “La Camara Oscura” telling the story of Getrudis who is brought up in a Jewish area in Argentina, 19th century and tries to be invisible thinking that she is ugly, are the other films that will meet the audience.
