A direct communication mean among the artists and a culture-art site Cihangirlink is opened with its first project Amongst Neighbours 01.

Cihangirlink, created by Cihangir Neighbourhood Association and sponsored mainly by İstanbul 2010 Europe Cultural Capital Agency, made its opening in Lush Hotel. Cihangirlink is open with a brand new project, Amongst Neighbours 01 that aims to encourage the artists from İstanbul, Cihangir and Berlin, Mitte-Wedding share each other’s living and working space and produce work in collaboration.

The opening night started with the introductory talks about Cihangirlink, done by Selcuk Erdogmus, the Chairman of Cihangir Neighbourhood Association, Necile Deliceoglu, the Project General Coordinator, Cagla Ormanlar Ok, the Artistic Director, Bahadır Güzel, the Visual Designer and Beral Madra, the Visual Arts Director of İstanbul 2010 and then welcomed the head of Beyoglu Municipality, Ahmet Misbah Demircan.

Moreover, the presentation of the Cihangir map, named Cihangir Guide, prepared by Cihangir Neighbourhood Association and coordinated by Sevil Sert was done for the first time in the opening night.

First Project of Cihangirlink
Including a culture-art map on district scale, information about the artists, culture and art venues and the works they present, culture and art news, Cihangirlink website aims to be the address of international contact and neighbourhood.

Within the first project of the site, Amongst Neighbours 01, 36 artists coming from totally different disciplines; from theatre to cinema, literature to music, are going to be guests of each other’s for 2 different 3-weeks periods in order to link İstanbul to Berlin and vice-versa. 18 artists from Cihangir are going to be guests of Mitte in April and 18 artists from Mitte are going to be the guests of Cihangir in May. The works, produced in relation to street and public, are going to be presented through all sorts of activities like; exhibitions, performances, workshops and training sessions, in order to maintain the reach of a wide-range crowd. The district streets are going to be transformed into venues where performances and exhibitions take place.
