About the place

Galeri Artist is a contemporary art gallery based in Istanbul, Ankara and Berlin. The headquarters is established in Besiktas, Istanbul. Four floors of the building are dedicated to the Daghan Özil private collection, for public exhibitions. The group has other branches within the same name such as Galeri Artist Istanbul mainly for one man shows, Galeri Artist edition and Galeri Artist Lab. The Gallery organizes solo and group shows of paintings, sculptures, ceramics and photographs of various artists every month.

Galeri Artist, founded in 1986 in Ankara, has developed into an internationally recognized showcase for contemporary Turkish and European art. From the start, the Gallery’s mission has been to link European and Turkish art in Istanbul, where East meets West.

In October 2003, Galeri Artist Berlin came into existence with an exhibition from the famous Dadaist artist George Grosz. Within the first year, the gallery held solo shows featuring Panamerenko, Sarkis, and Turkish modern artist Ergin Inan; followed by Bervoets, Richard Serra, Ilya Kabakov, Jan Fabre, Sergio Saez, Emiel Hoorne and another Turkish modern artist Komet in the second year.
